A simple gesture
In the darkness of the night
A stroke of light
Can make a walk staggering
Take its steps right
In the barren stretch
Of the lonely desert
A drop of water
Can save, a dying soul thirsty
Amidst burning cruelty
Resonate echoes of hate
A kind word spoken
Can heal hearts broken
Be the light
That water
The Word
And that simple gesture
That can make a frowning face smile.
